Bug n Mix – Sound Streaming Session
Thursday 22 May at Le Magasin – Centre National d’Art Contemporain, Grenoble
at the initiative of Le Magasin and the Ecole Supérieure d’Art de Grenoble, in partnership with Radio Campus Grenoble 90.8 and IASTAR (French network of campus radios). On-site access to the session (midday to midnight) is free, and the streaming can be accessed on the website www.bugnmix.net

Since February 2003, Le Magasin has organised micro-events exploring the various media of contemporary art: video (with “La Question”), photography (“Images Transgenres”), painting (with a round table on the young French scene) and sound (“Bug n’ Mix”).

The project is based on sound works streamed over the internet, and mixes work by art students with that of established artists. The idea is to stimulate exchange between students, teachers and artists who produce in the streaming format.
For 12 hours, Le Magasin will be transformed into a sound transceiver, a place for hearing the sound that it sends out to an arborescent network of art schools. There will be guests both live (artists and students) and at a distance

Bug n’ Mix is also a new opportunity to continue the partnership with the Ecole Supérieure d’Art de Grenoble, whose 5 X 55’ project (2002) enabled five art schools in the Rhône-Alpes region to meet at Le Magasin and view a selection of videos made by their students (55 minutes for each of the five schools). This opportunity for students to show their work outside the limited context of their own school was then repeated in Lyon (Ecole d’Art de Lyon, at the MAC) and Valence (Ecole d’Art de Valence, at the CRAC).
For Bug n’ Mix, invitations were sent out all round France before the final selection of twelve art schools was made.
