ALICIA FRAMIS
"Pour y habiter"
November 8th - 30th 1996
Extra muros

Alicia Framis's workshop opening, on Friday November 8th, 121 galerie de l’Arlequin, Villeneuve, Grenoble. Visits by appointment.

ALICIA FRAMIS is a spanish artist living in Amsterdam. She develops an artistic work which is the result of stays in specific architecture. Her project for Grenoble: "Pour y habiter", takes place in the area of la Villeneuve, located in the south of the city.
The workshop-appartement that she occupies is an experimental house in which the artist would like to underline the artificial aspect of the several ideological representations: the domestic aspect of lodging coming from architecture of the 70's.

This experience of living during two months in this area, the choice to re-build the workshop and to open it to the public with the intention to show the results of the research, allow a new questioning on the values at the frontier between public and private space.

Alicia Framis, born in 1967 in Barcelona, lives and works in Amsterdam.
Studies at the Fine Art School of Paris, at the "Institut des Hautes Etudes en Arts Plastiques" in Paris, and now at the Rilksakademie van Beldende Kunsten Amsterdam.
