The experience of music in a relaxed, social, non-frontal context, where listening activates moments of exchange.
Start the workshop with a live improvisation by the artist, followed by a presentation of the context and history of the café-concert, before setting off in the footsteps of Kadoudja, the Kabyle singer at the heart of the artist's recent research. The workshop closes with a presentation of the tools used by the artist, and a look at his creative and compositional processes: handle an analogue synthesiser for the first time, learn the basics of sampling and sound synthesis.
With the support of the French Ministry of Culture as part of the Eté Culturel 2023 programme.
About the artist
Amar Ruiz was born in Grenoble in 1998 and graduated from ESAD Grenoble in 2023. He uses music and voice to talk about the people behind history, the people who have been forgotten. By attempting to write a sensitive history, the past becomes a means of speaking about the present. His work focuses particularly on the Algerian diaspora in France.
